Another sad passing for those of my generation. 83 is not a bad innings, perhaps, and anyone who created so much joy can surely shuffle off the mortal coil without too much to regret, one hopes.

I thought so. I have great memories of Noggin the Nog, Ivor the Engine, The Pogles and the Clangers(I just ordered the DVD, sad or what?). I was probably too old for the Clangers, but was very into ‘space’.
