Did you stay up till 5.30, did you?
It was great, fantastic BBC fun, Dimbleby often losing it but maintaining his good humour. The beautiful Gore Vidal, has he lost the plot (“I don’t know who you are”) and he has got so old; Murdoch has finally become Mr Burns, even to the dyed hair; the main BBC anchor, Matt Frei, lost his microphone, but didn’t seem to mind; there was a wonderful free standing arm sticking out from behind someone’s seat, and another lurking cameraman or two. And just what was Jeremy Vine up to, green screen in excess. But wait it was worth it when we got to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/us_elections_2008/7710079.stm
And McCain did come good in the end.
Rev Jesse Jackson, a great man, who could have (should have?) done the job, a humbling realisation of that dream, bringing the spirit of Martin Luther King to the celebrations.
