Revolutionary Rants

Because Everything's Political

A-wo-men

Just a link today, as I loved the article and it has many of my own feelings on the subject of my name and my choices, too. I have been to see Star Wars: Clone Wars with my niece and nephew, then I took them swimming and now it is time for some snap!

Aha, so you thought that might get my attention?

This seems like a sensible and well thought out approach to the subject. Assuming we were in a matriarchy we might be having the same argument, but the other way round?

However back to the point; why oh why does it matter? There are much more worrying things to get agitated by.

• Double-barrelled names are silly

• Genealogy works best by scouring through papers, which work on a system and include all names. Other records back these up, ie census and directory

• Last night I was moved by the journey Jerry Springer took, all helped by the names and faces of his immediate back family. Some were male some female, all people who the Nazi’s though we could do without. But somehow some survived, some continued. They beat the bastards. Puts the name thing in perspective, maybe; the people count more than the names, but the names bring them back to life.

Interesting, though perhaps a case of thinking too much?

Oh and how was the latest Star Wars, as bad as they suggest? Why, oh why, does he make such bad films, when they could so easily be good ones?

The Springer ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ was very moving, wasn’t it? Oh well, anyone who comes to look back at Chicken and I’s family – should we have one – will have an easy job, as they shall be Sains-Boots, silly or not :-)

‘Clone Wars’ was the usual stilted Lucas stuff, bad script and the sort of plot you get on any Saturday morning cartoon. However, the lack of Hayden Christiansen scowling and snogging Natalie Portman occasionally in between scowling some more was a relief! The kids hated it, tho’, which about sums it up. Go see ‘Mamma Mia’ instead, which Emily loved and has the hilarious sight of Pierce Brosnan trying to sing…
