Just a link today, as I loved the article and it has many of my own feelings on the subject of my name and my choices, too. I have been to see Star Wars: Clone Wars with my niece and nephew, then I took them swimming and now it is time for some snap! |

Aha, so you thought that might get my attention?
This seems like a sensible and well thought out approach to the subject. Assuming we were in a matriarchy we might be having the same argument, but the other way round?
However back to the point; why oh why does it matter? There are much more worrying things to get agitated by.
• Double-barrelled names are silly
• Genealogy works best by scouring through papers, which work on a system and include all names. Other records back these up, ie census and directory
• Last night I was moved by the journey Jerry Springer took, all helped by the names and faces of his immediate back family. Some were male some female, all people who the Nazi’s though we could do without. But somehow some survived, some continued. They beat the bastards. Puts the name thing in perspective, maybe; the people count more than the names, but the names bring them back to life.
Interesting, though perhaps a case of thinking too much?
