We had an absolutely fantastic day yesterday. When Mr C returned from work we headed out straight away on our bikes peddling down the Tarka Trail on the Barnstaple to Braunton side of the estuary.
We stopped off at the Tarka Inn for some lunch and a shandy, before heading off again to Braunton and down the toll road to Braunton Burrows. We crossed the dunes (quite difficult of bikes, in the sand!) to the very far end of Saunton Sands. I braved a swim, but Chicken just paddled, as it was too cold for him. Then we turned tail and rolled off home. It proved quite difficult as my peddle had decided to fall off - or to start falling off, to be more accurate. Chicken was very gallant and rode my bike and we made running repairs on the way back.
We then had a hot bath to help our aching limbs and had a nice glass of Kir Royal whilst watching The IT Crowd. Smashing.
After a very long sleep, we are now relaxing. Breakfast, lots of coffee and now Mr C is in another very hot bath. No plans for today, just seeing where the wind takes us. Thinking about our Yorkshire holiday, which I am stupidly over excited about. I can’t wait to return to Whitby and see the abbey, and I am perhaps even more excited about going back to Robin Hood’s Bay, where we will be staying. It brings me back to childhood, I suppose, hence the excitement.
Well, time to glance over the papers before heading to the bath.
