Although I am pretty tired and kind of grumpy due to this tiredness, i have promised a review.
Overall I would say I quite enjoyed it, but the fact that I had read the almost 1,000 page book before I saw it really took the luster off. I never had this problem before, as I only read the books lately, plus - other than Goblet of Fire - the books are a lot shorter. The whole thing seemed desperately rushed, and missed out large chunks of plot such as Ron and Hermione being made prefects, Quiddich and most of the stuff at Grimmauld Place. Instead, long scenes involving rousing speeches relating to Harry having love and Voldermort not having it seemed to take up unnecessary space. Sirius’s annoyance at being confined to his family home was ignored, the connection between the minds of Harry/Voldie was skimmed to the point of not really being clear and nothing seemed to have time to develop…
Some plot points were changed, seemingly for no real reason. However, Daniel Radcliffe has improved in the acting stakes (apart from still making that annoying rasping noise in lieu of a scream of pain) even if Grint and Watson are still pretty hopeless. There were also excellent turns from newcomers Imelda Staunton and Evanna Lynch.
The final fight scene between Voldie and Dumbledore was spectacular, but overall it need more beefing out, less moralising and, although enjoyable, fell short of Goblet of Fire.
I remember Chris having this problem with Lord of the Ringsā¦
