Been busy and not of a mind for blogging just now. To catch up a bit: Sunday was lovely, lots of Wii tennis, a walk at Arlington Court and a gorgeous dinner. Monday saw Mr C killed by nut and he had to have the day off as we had been up most of the night. Tuesday was a training day with Addaction and today I was volunteering and over at the ‘rents battling on Wii tennis.
There is an amazing house in Matlock on Location, Location, Location reminding me of my Northern pangs. I haven’t really had them before, but the last week or two I am really, really missing the better half of the country (hee hee). I suppose it is getting towards the longest time I’ve been away from it since 2001, when I went to University in Huddersfield. When we were in Reading we went up a couple of times, for my Masters interviews and house hunting and the rest of our life as a couple - and my life before Chicken - was spent in Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
I have pangs for places like Matlock, the North York Moors, the Peak District, Whitby, even the dirty old town itself, Mansfield.
Tragic, really, when we live in one of the most sought-after and beautiful places in the country. We have actual seaside places, not a fake one, we have two moors, we have the coast…
And, most tragic of all, although we are not planning it for a long time, I sometimes feel quite sad that our children might not be Northerners…
