Gone to the bastard Barcelona of all places (better than dirty Spurs, I suppose)…
It is an end of an era. Like when Wrighty retired, and the “war horses” (Adams, Keown, Winterburn, Dixon) left the game I feel like a little bit of “my Arsenal” has gone. The team when I followed them with obsession, that is, now they are my team and I support them but it isn’t a matter of life and death. It was when I was a teenager, a rather obsessive character.

Another departure of note this weekend was of course our Prime Minister of the last ten years, Mr Blair Blair. I remember writing in my diary on the day/night New Labour were elected “GO LEFT“. They didn’t, of course, and the rest is now history. Mandelson, flats in Bristol, tuition fees, cash for peerages, that war… An eventful decade for us all. Now a much younger looking Brown is in place as leader and the deputy is being announced in about an hour and a half. Goodbye Tony, goodbye and good riddance.
I think I’ll miss Henry more, tho’…
It has been a busy weekend. Alex has been visiting and we bemoaned the loss of Seany over a Chinese on Friday night. Yesterday I did my first ever motorway drive as we went to Exeter. I met up with my friend Andrew and we had a pleasant lunch in one of the new Princesshay developments. On return home I was surprised by a Chicken “make-over” and we all went for a drink to celebrate. After a lie-in today (until 9:00 - that would have been an early rise a year or two ago…) we are planning a walk at Arlington Court this afternoon. If the rain holds off…
