Time for a rant on design. It is not often that I would even notice something in “design”, let alone bother to blog about it, but the logo for the London Olympics in 2012 (or “twenty-twelve” as they are now calling it) is utterly shit.
To me it looks far from being ‘cutting edge’ or speaking to ‘youth culture’; what it looks like is a piece of animation from very early MTV, when bands like Dire Straights started using animation in videos. That stuff was minging then, now it is dated, choppy and minging…
The worst bit is it cost £400,000. Yes, four-hundred thousand pounds Sterling. The sheer shitness of this is compounded further by the fact that the NHS is starved of money and then we spend that amount of money on that. What’s more, people have been sending in their own efforts to the Breakfast news and they are way better.
Aside from the rip-off merchants that are involved in such things. Mr Chicken has been in his job for a year today. It is, just like last year, sunny and blue-skied today but there is a lot less nervousness in general. I am off to Bideford for my first shift of volunteering for the week.
