Once again the “right” to bear arms comes back to bite the American nation in the bum. I heard the editor of Guns Weekly on the news this morning saying that no ‘law-abiding American citizen’ (empathisis on American) could have got hold of a gun in this way. But surely the kids at Columbine were American citizens who got hold of guns at a gun fair (meaning they didn’t need to have federal background checks)? Almost straight away they were claiming this was a man of ‘Asian appearance’ so I can imagine the reason the gun person got from killing two people in one campus building to killing 30 or more other in another campus building was because the police were looking for someone who appeared to be a “terrorist”… Lets just hope it doesn’t turn out to be a Jean-Charles de Menezes situation.

The shocked students keep saying ‘this is a gun-free campus’; it seems kind of scary to me that they need to make campuses “gun-free” at all. Thankfully this was not necessary at Huddersfield. Probably, I am thinking, because we don’t think it is our constitutional right to have a gun…
