Revolutionary Rants

Because Everything’s Political

A birthday post

The 19th of January. My birthday. I am now 24. Oooh ‘eck, as they say up in Yorkshire (altho’ I think it may have been only me and Wallace that ever uttered it…). Time to change my “About Me” page once again.

So far so good, I have a large pot of proper coffee in front of me, which I am greatly enjoying, and I have had my first few cards (and icard…) and a small but very nice selection of gifts. Slipper ‘boots’, which I have been hankering after for my icey feet, a black and red (my colours!) scarf, money and from Mr C a special edition La Haine DVD and the Pride and Prejudice (2004) sound track (I also already have a new exercise bike for me and C from Mum and Dad). He is also cooking for me tomorrow (tonight we have a leaving ‘do’ to attend - in the pub!), which is always a treat because he is a more patient and skilled chef than me!

We seem to have survived the wind so far. On my trip to the library yesterday there were a few smashed tiles/slates on the pavement on the Promenade, so not too drastic considering Barnstaple got some of the worst gusts (73mph) according to the BBC. Other people were not so lucky, of course, which is awful. What have we done to the weather?

I must admit, following a conversation with my brother-in-law (to be) that I returned to watch Big Brother (minus the hugely annoying Carphone W. adverts in between everything!) last night. I am no longer sure about Jade not being racist after her surname offering, but either way I am baying for blood tonight! I still agree with the comments of yesterday that the bullying thing is almost worse than the racist ‘undertones’. As usual with bullying the bullies pick on something that it important to their victim, a part of their life or make-up as a person, and it is horrible to see that this still goes on in adult life.

Oh well, I have a birthday to enjoy! Happy birthday to me, happy birt… la la.
