Hotel Esmeralda

We have booked our “honeymoon” hotel! We have decided to go for the ‘eccentric’ and ‘idiosyncratic’ (as it always seems to be described by visitors) Hotel Esmeralda in the Latin Quarter. It has been recommended by family friends and one major attraction is that every morning we can wake up and look out of our window at Notre Dame! The hotel, built in 1640, has no website or e-mail (nor does it have an internet connect or TVs), so Chicken’s beautiful French came in handy in booking our room. Apparently, each room in the garret style place is decorated individually and the hotel was favoured by Terence Stamp and Serge “that dirty French song” Gainsbourg amongst others. It’ll be a little adventure in itself and we are both very excited about it. Plus, it is really good not to have to look around on the internet for flaming hotels anymore!

We spent two hours sorting the inserts for the invites last night. Gin and tonics in hand(s) we set about writing our perfect wording and had that translated by Chicken’s mother in to Polish for our guest from Warsaw. Once they are all printed off we can get to some serious card making!

A small bird has been happily singing away outside for the last couple of days, more proof that the weather has gone mental - if we needed it. Plus, it is not very cold at all and quite sunny… Scary stuff.
