50 Films to see Before you Die

A couple of weeks ago, when Film4 went free (hooray!) Channel 4 did a programme featuring a selection of critics/film bods/actors/ect’s 50 Films to See Before You Die.

This list is available to view here (at the bottom). Of these I have seen a mere twenty-two (all the way through). I am shocked… Mind you, some of the list is rubbish. Much as I like Mike Leigh’s old stuff Secretes and Lies is the most over rated film for years and - for f**k’s sake - THE BREAKFAST CLUB?!?!?!?!?!?!?! What were those people on? The Breakfast Club is evil middle-of-the-road, Amercian dream, bubble-gum at dawn shite. The goth one looked much better before the ginger one scragged back her hair and put rouge on her - and much less like an extra from Pretty Woman (one film I refuse to watch).

Oh well, I suppose I should at some point see Apocolypse Now but I find it hard to get myself worked up for it…

Well, must get ready to go to The Big Sheep.
