It is not OK computer

I am slightly annoyed – once again, as I am every time I do this – at spending four hours of my life watching ‘The 100 Greatest Albums‘ on Channel 4 last night. Now, don’t get me wrong, the programme was quite enjoyable – especially listening to how great Oasis still think they are – and had all the usual listomania, but the list itself was as slanted and aggravating as ‘The Big Read’ turned out to be (and the ’100 Great Cartoons’, and the ’100 Greatest Sexiest Moments’, etc. etc.). I mean, I love Radiohead (although you only get the full impact of them live, not on CD), but there is no way that ‘OK Computer’ is the greatest flaming album of all time! I am sorry, but NO! Let me put it this way, I like Radiohead a lot, so do a great many of us, but how many times do you put on iTunes and think “oh! I know, I would love to listen to ‘OK Computer’!”? Exactly. Plus, the Manics were not even in there! (joke) Comments Off |
